External Consultant with CWA Marine Department. Highly experienced Consultant Surveyor for ship and/or cargo damage incidents and port operations. Particular experience with bulk dry cargoes, e.g. sugar, rice, cereals and oilseeds, frozen fish and other produce, containerised and refrigerated cargoes.

Specific Expertise and Experience at CWA

A marine career spanning more than 40 years, Capt. Jacobs has been involved in many facets of the shipping industry. This has included positions held in all ranks up to Master on all types of vessels, including tankers, bulk carriers, reefer vessels, car carriers, ro-ro vessels, dredgers, anchor handling vessels, tugs and survey vessels. He has also served as Port Captain in various locations, Project Manager, Lloyds Surveyor and Marine Superintendent.

He has extensive experience of cargo-handling procedures, port operations, appointing surveyors and overseeing all insurance matters and, as a Project Manager, has overseen the arrest, sale and subsequent successful re-building of two high-speed ferries in Southampton

For the past three years, he has been based in Lagos, for Pandiship (Nigeria) Ltd., as Senior Correspondent and Operations Manager responsible for their day to day P&I operations in Nigeria.
