Postgraduate & Graduate Scientists
CWA International are looking to recruit postgraduate and graduate scientists with a good degree and who are energetic and motivated to apply their knowledge to the international trade of agricultural commodities, typically arising from the maritime sector. A background in, or exposure to, agronomy, plant biology, plant protection, or pre- and postharvest Food Science, and/or a thorough understanding of the principles governing the bulk storage and transport of perishable cargoes (e.g. applied physics) would present an advantage.
We undertake investigations world-wide into the loss of, and damage to, consignments of food and address matters of causation, mitigation and prevention of loss.
Successful applicants will need to combine a broad scientific knowledge with common sense to determine the cause of loss and damage and to suggest potential remedial actions. The positions are full time and will benefit from initial training and mentoring. We are based in central London but flexibility to travel internationally at short notice is required (up to 10 weeks/yr).
